Following its inaugural event on May 4th in Toronto, Women’s LEAD travelled west to Vancouver, British Columbia, where a panel of local entrepreneurs, community builders and change-makers came together to provide powerful insight into leadership, excellence, achievement and diversity. Panel members included: KWENCH founder Tessa McLoughlin, Turf founder Deanne Schweitzer, Human in Motion & Chloe Angus Design, Chloe Angus, and CEO of Covenant House Krista Thompson.

Tessa McLoughlin

Founder & Director, KWENCH

KWENCH owner and founder, Tessa McLoughlin has become one of Victoria’s most high-profile business owners — she’s often quoted in the news, consulted for advice, and has graced the pages of multiple business magazines, winning several prominent awards. She was named one of the Top 10 to Watch by Douglas Magazine, Force to Be Reckoned With by The Forum, and was one of BC Business Magazine’s Woman of the Year finalists in 2019. Victoria’s Chamber of Commerce also named Tessa’s successful culture club and co-working space, the Best New Business in Victoria in 2020.

Deanne Schweitzer

Founder & Owner, TurF

Deanne is the co-founder and owner of TurF, a community-centric gathering spot in Vancouver's Kitsilano neighbourhood, offering best-in-class fitness classes, bistro food, a retail shop and an espresso bar. The brainchild of Schweitzer, an ex-Lululemon executive, and her sister, Delaney (also from Lululemon), TurF is the realization of their dream to create a space that would serve as an access point to a better day, and maybe even a better life.

Krista Thompson

Chief Executive Officer, Covenant House Vancouver

As the CEO of Covenant House, Krista leads with her heart and has a 30-year track record of demonstrated success in the non-profit sector. She is an idealist yet her thinking is grounded in reality as well as clearly defined strategies that have proven to be effective.

During her 16 years at Covenant House Vancouver, Krista has worked with and led extraordinary people; providing vision, attracting and retaining high-performing teams while achieving 4X revenue growth, 6X capital growth and providing excellent service to clients.

Chloe Angus

Human in Motion & Chloe Angus Design

Chloë Angus’ entrepreneurial journey as a designer of both fashion and advanced robotics technology has been anything but conventional and has resulted in the building of two separate companies, Chloë Angus Design and Human In Motion Robotics, a Vancouver firm that has developed the world’s most advanced human exoskeleton.
