Overview

As Deputy Chief Investment Officer, William oversees Nicola Wealth’s overall investment strategy and leads the ongoing evolution of its diversified platform. With more than two decades of experience in financial markets, Will is recognized for his ability to combine technical expertise with sound judgment to guide investment decisions across public and private asset classes.

Before becoming CIO, Will played a pivotal role in managing public Fixed Income and internalizing mandates within the firm. Earlier in his career, he served as Vice President and Head of Fixed Income at RBC Phillips, Hager & North, where he led high-performing teams and cultivated strong client relationships. He also held senior roles in U.S. Treasury trading at Barclays Capital and Deutsche Bank Securities, with a focus on disciplined execution and market share growth.

During his professional career, he has also spent time as a Secondary School Math Teacher in the North Vancouver School District, teaching mathematics and computer programming to students in grades 8 to 12.

He holds an Honours Bachelor of Applied Mathematics, Co-op from the University of Waterloo and a Bachelor of Education – Mathematics from the University of British Columbia. Additionally, Will is a Chartered Investment Manager (CIM).

Beyond his professional life, Will is passionate about the Take a Hike Foundation, to which he has devoted significant time and support.
