Amanda Burrows, Interim Executive Director
Amanda joined the First United team as Director of Development in the summer of 2020, and took on the role of Associate Executive Director for First United Church Community Ministry Society and First United Church Social Housing Society. She has 15 years experience building capacity in non-profits, and is focused on using her skill set to build stronger and more equitable communities. As a connector Amanda develops programs and curriculum that stimulate philanthropic behaviour, and volunteers with organizations, and projects that encourage inclusion, civic engagement and social impact. Currently, Amanda sits on the Chinatown Foundation Fundraising Committee for the Chinatown Storytelling Project and is part of the team that created DTES Response — a frontline fundraising and support network to ensure COVID 19 does not disproportionately affect our most vulnerable. She is also a board member for Pivot Legal Society and recently joined the Advisory for the Ken Lyotier Fund.
Amanda has a degree in Art History from the University of Victoria, a Masters in Museum Studies from the University of Toronto, and a certificate in Fundraising Management from Ryerson. She is a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) and recently earned her Public Leadership Credential (PLC) from the Harvard Kennedy School.
