In this episode of The Wealth Exchange’s Women’s LEAD segment, our host, Selena Woo, sits down with two entrepreneurs from the Vancouver Entrepreneurs Organization (EO), Lisa Will, Founder and CEO of Stonz and EO Diversity Chair, and Sebastien Nault, Founder and CEO of Black Tie Services and President of EO.
As two entrepreneurs who have found success in their industries, Lisa and Sebastien help uncover the differences women and men face in business. They also discuss the ups and downs of the entrepreneurial journey and highlight why it is essential that entrepreneurs uplift one another and support diversity in entrepreneurial communities.
Lisa Will is the CEO and Founder of Stonz, a Vancouver apparel and footwear brand helping parents spend more time with their kids, outside. Stonz makes the highest quality kid’s outerwear and was built from scratch by Lisa. It was during a weekend in Whistler with her first child, when she couldn’t find appropriate winter footwear for the baby that was warm and stayed on, that the inspiration for Stonz took hold. She is an entrepreneur who follows her passion with hard work, focus and perseverance and has grown Stonz from its 2004 humble beginnings in her Vancouver basement and garage into the company it is today.
Stonz is now selling internationally in over 16 countries. Lisa has been a 2010 RBC Women Entrepreneur of the Year Finalist and Stonz has earned the accolades of 2012 Earnshaw’s Best Shoe Company Finalist and the 2013 Best Kids’ Shoes Award Winner from Red Tricycle Awards.
Lisa is also the Entrepreneurs Organization (EO) Vancouver Chapter’s Diversity Chair. EO is a global, peer-to-peer network of more than 17,000+ influential business owners with 213 chapters in 60+ countries. Founded in 1987, EO is the catalyst that enables leading entrepreneurs to learn and grow, leading to greater success in business and beyond.
Sebastien Nault is the Founder and Chief Service Officer of Black Tie Property Services, an exterior building maintenance company that specializes in high-reach cleaning. Black Tie operates in four major Canadian markets—Greater Vancouver, Greater Victoria, Calgary, and Edmonton—with plans to expand across Canada by 2025.
Outside of Black Tie, Sebastien is the President of the Vancouver chapter of the Entrepreneurs’ Organization (EO). He also mentors college students in entrepreneurship at the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) and teaches financial basics to high school students through the Junior Achievement program (JABC).
As Vice President, Advisory Services – Associates & Operations, Selena leads the Wealth Planning Associates with purpose and positive intent to embrace a culture of empathy and excellence.
With over two decades in financial services, Selena brings passion and expert experience to her role at Nicola Wealth. Selena’s experience ranges from working for a mutual fund company servicing brokers and financial advisors to working alongside two Investment Counsellors at a large investment management firm servicing high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth clients, and most recently, working for one of Canada’s largest private investment management firms with a focus on institutional clients. A graduate of The University of Calgary, Selena graduated with her Bachelor of Arts, in Economics.
