Dr. Caron Strahlendorf

Dr. Strahlendorf is the Head of the Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology/Bone Marrow Transplantation at BC Children’s Hospital. Originally from South Africa, Dr. Stralendorf moved to Vancouver in 1999. A graduate of the University of the Witwatersrand Medical School in Johannesburg, she has been an oncologist for over 20 years since completing pediatric and subspecialty medical training in South Africa, England and Canada.

Among her many leadership roles at BCCH, she is the site principal investigator for the North American Children’s Oncology Group clinical trials network, Director of the Pediatric Apheresis Program, and member (and prior co-chair) of the Clinical Research Ethics Board. Her contributions have been recognized by several awards including the 2013 Cancer Society Volunteer Award of Excellence, the 2013 UBC Pediatric Resident Faculty Mentor of the Year award and in 2014 she was a finalist for the YMCA Women of Distinction Award.
