Dalya Israel, Executive Director of WAVAW

Dalya was appointed Executive Director of the WAVAW Rape Crisis Centre in February 2019, after managing WAVAW’s Victims Services, Volunteer, Inclusion and Outreach Program; a position she held since 2012. She started her journey with WAVAW in 2005 as the Victim Service Medical Support Worker.

Dalya was the principal contributor in WAVAW’s ground-breaking paper “Seeking Equality before the Courts for Women.” She delivered the findings of the paper at multiple conferences attended by Justice System Personnel, such as the 2012 FREDA Conference and the 2014 BC Justice Summit. Dalya has presented at multiple National and International Conferences and is part of the Gender Equality Network of Canada. Dalya presents regularly at many local professional developments days to share best practices for responding to victims/survivors of sexual assault. Dalya is dedicated to amplifying survivor’s voices and ensuring that WAVAW is a place that will support them on their self-determined journeys towards healing and Justice.
