Podcast Recommendation: “Get Your Share of the Pie” People I (Mostly) Admire with Steven Levitt

Chris Warner FCSI CIM CFP PFP

At Nicola Wealth, we pride ourselves on our Share the Pie philosophy. Our CEO John Nicola recently presented a webinar on how the firm has deliberately and successfully worked to build a win-win-win culture, he also provided valuable insight for companies looking to integrate this model. So, of course, when I saw “share of the pie” pop up in my podcast listing, I had to move it to the top of my queue.

In this episode, well-known game theorist, Professor at Yale School of Management and successful entrepreneur, Barry Nalebuff, joins the host of People I (Mostly) Admire, Steven Levitt, to talk through the potentially non-obvious ways that he sees businesses can best succeed by maximizing honesty and fairness. Especially with negotiations, there is often the view that for one side to “win,” the other has to “lose.” Nalebuff uses economic theory to show how this is often incorrect and how both sides might see greater wins by working together. He also shares some interesting anecdotes on building multiple million-dollar businesses by creating an honest dialogue with consumers.
