Geoff Belsher has nearly 40 years of experience as a senior business executive, investment banker, corporate lawyer and private investor.
Following his retirement from CIBC in 2015, Geoff established Resurgam Financial with a mandate to invest alongside and provide advice to earlier stage entrepreneurial founders/CEO’s. In addition, during that time Geoff has undertaken selective board/advisory roles with a number of corporations.
Geoff was a member of the Executive Committee of CIBC and was Co-Head of Wholesale
Banking at CIBC where he was responsible for Corporate and Investment Banking. This
involved managing approximately 500 professionals in Canada and key offices around the
world and overseeing the corporate loan book with approximately $70 billion in loans
outstanding. Geoff joined CIBC in early 2009.
Prior to joining CIBC Geoff had over 12 years of investment banking experience with major Canadian and global investment banks. During that time, he built businesses in Canada and the U.S. and advised on a number of significant domestic and cross-border transactions.
Geoff practiced law as a partner with Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP from 1984 to 1997 before his career in investment banking. As a lawyer, Geoff specialized in corporate and securities law with a focus on mergers and acquisitions. Geoff is married with two children
