Cameron Smith

Director of Advisory Services

Cameron Smith is Nicola Wealth’s Director of Advisory Services, where he manages Nicola Wealth’s growing Advisory Services team. In this role, Cameron is responsible for building and supporting the team of Financial Advisors, as well as creating new opportunities for Financial Advisors to serve their clients.

Prior to joining Nicola Wealth, Cameron was a media personality in Edmonton AB, working on a radio morning show for seven years.  In 2006, he made the career switch to wealth management, starting out as a Client Assistant and working his way up to Regional Vice President. As a naturally curious person, Cameron is always asking questions, allowing him to gain a deep connection with the clients that he works with and to build meaningful client relationships.

Cameron holds the Certified Investment Manager (CIM) and Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designations, finishing the CFP exam in 2008 with the top score in Alberta and within the top eight scores nationally. He is also certified with the Life License Qualification Program (LLQP).

When not in the office Cameron gives back by coaching sports. He has coached hockey, soccer and baseball and is currently a Little League and Minor Hockey Coach in North Vancouver where he lives.

  • Retirement Dreams?

    Living somewhere near the water.

  • Favourite Sport to play?

    From a very early age, I’ve always loved playing hockey. Golf and fishing have also made their way onto the list.

  • If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?

    I haven’t explored northern Europe yet. I’d also like to go back to Australia… 3 weeks there was not nearly enough!

  • Best place to get a burger?

    In and Out Burger. All they offer is burgers and fries… they don’t do much – but they really nail what they do offer.

  • What languages do you speak?

    I have travelled extensively through Latin America, and was at one point, fairly fluent in Spanish. It’s really rusty, but it comes out when I get the chance to use it for a few days in a row.

  • What is your favorite ice cream flavor?

    Call me crazy – but I like vanilla. When I feel adventurous, I just add toppings!
