Host Ethan Astaneh, sits down with Dalya Israel, Executive Director of WAVAW Rape Crisis Center. They share an eye-opening discussion around her own journey, how WAVAW aids survivors, her thoughts on social movements (such as the #MeToo movement), the biases she witnesses that are embedded in society, and how WAVAW and everyday people are making a broader social impact.
WAVAW not only supports survivors of sexual violence but strives to shift society as a whole and create a future free from sexualized violence all-together. They provide support services for survivors such as one-on-one counseling and support groups, supporting them through navigating the medical and legal system, as well as providing a 24-hour crisis and information line. Through their work in advocating for social and systemic change, they also train teachers and provide high school and post-secondary workshops.
